Liverpool host Everton in the first Merseyside derby on Wednesday evening.

The Reds have looked sensational so far this season and are the current league leaders.

In contrast Everton have looked poor and currently sit just two points off the drop zone.

Despite this they have dangerous players who must be stopped to avoid an upset.

The French full-back is perhaps Everton’s best player. Since ousting Leighton Baines from the left-back position he has looked brilliant. In defence he is safe, dogged and determined but it is in attack where he plays his best football. Last season he scored four goals and assisted another four. Despite being in a poor Everton side he continues to do well. So far this season he has contributed three assists for his teammates. The Reds will certainly be kept busy by Digne down the left-hand side.

Ex-Swansea man Gylfi Sigurdsson is one of many Everton players who have under performed this year. The Iceland international is usually a serious goal threat but has only scored one Premier League goal 14 games into the campaign. Last season he scored 13 goals for the Toffees and on his day, he can absolutely run any game he plays in. Liverpool will need to ensure he doesn’t return to form against us.

Everton splashed big money on 22-year-old Brazilian Richarlison last year. He started his career on Merseyside in amazing fashion before his season fizzled out. Along with Sigurdsson he was Everton’s top goal scorer with 13 goals during the 2018/19 campaign.

He remains a serious threat despite the poor form of Marco Silva’s side. Last time out he scored against Leicester to grab his fourth goal of the season. He’ll be on a high and confident of making it two in a row against Liverpool. It’ll be up to the Reds defence to make sure that doesn’t happen.
