Who would have thought that come December, Leicester City would be the biggest threat to Liverpool’s title challenge? As we enter the manic period, the Reds are pursued by the Foxes. Jürgen Klopp is eight points clear at the top of the table, with Leicester lying in second place. Champions Manchester City are 11 points adrift. However, Liverpool could be set for a major title boost as Brendan Rodgers has discussed the vacant Arsenal job.
Last week saw the Gooners sack manager Unai Emery. The Spanish gaffer faced an impossible task when he took over at the Emirates, following a manager that has been there decades rarely goes well.
Brendan Rodgers is one of the leading candidates for the Arsenal job. The Northern Irishman is currently in charge of over achieving Leicester City. Speaking after his side’s dramatic late win over Everton, Brendan was asked whether there is a clause in his contract that allows him to leave the King Power. He told Sky Sports:
“There probably is in most managers contracts…Most manager’s contracts will have something in but my focus is here.”

Whether or not Brendan Rodgers does take the Arsenal job, the speculation is positive for Liverpool’s title bid.
The rumours are likely to serve as a distraction for the playing and coaching staff at Leicester City, these links come at a critical time of the season with each team to play a game every few days until January.
If the bewildering happens and Brendan Rodgers takes the Arsenal job, Liverpool can surely extend their lead over Leicester City as they search for a new manager.
Whatever happens, this uncertainty is good for us.
