Liverpool have shown that they have a keen eye for snapping up young talent in recent seasons. The Reds have beaten top European sides to sought after starlets such as Sepp Van Den Berg, Ki-Jana Hoever and Harvey Elliott. According to a report in The Metro, Liverpool are interested in Owen Otasowie of Wolves.
The 18-year-old plays primarily as a midfielder for the Wolves U23 side but is equally adept as a centre back. The Metro believe that Jürgen Klopp will face tough competition for his signature with PSG also interested in his signature after he impressed against the French side. Arsenal and Schalke are also rumoured to be in the hunt for the young man.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool chasing Owen Otasowie seems about right. This deal would be very typical of the Reds in recent years. He is young and soon to be out of contract. His expiring deal means that Michael Edwards would only have to fork out compensation to Wolves rather than paying an inflated transfer fee.
With the Reds constantly recruiting for the future, Otasowie could be a valuable addition. He is yet to make an appearance for the first team but has been incredibly impressive for the reserves and youth sides.
By snapping up talents such as Otasowie on a free at a young age, Liverpool can avoid paying a king’s ransom further down the line. Young talents that are out of contract cut a particularly enticing prospect at the minute given the enormous sums that are being touted as clubs look to secure the next best thing.
