There are few busier players in world football than Andy Robertson. The Scottish wing back spends his days flying up and down the left flank for Liverpool, creating and stopping goals with immutable consistency. With an ankle knock having given the player some trouble in recent weeks, the full back has been a doubt for Wednesday’s clash with Napoli. The latest Andy Robertson injury update is fantastic news for Kopites.

The official club site broadcast the Reds’ pre-match press conference, when asked about his ankle, Robbo told the media:

“It’s been better to be fair, just a bit stiff after matches, something I can manage with and I’m quite happy with. If you don’t have any pain after the amount of games we’ve played in then you’re doing something wrong…it’s fine for me, in games it probably feels the best, in games it feels good, that’s all that matters.”

What RTK has to say

To hear the Scotsman so confident of his own fitness ahead of Wednesday is great news. The left back is vital to the way the Reds play, defensively he is impassable and on the front foot he grabs assists with regularity.

With Robbo out of the side, Liverpool typically play with James Milner at left back. Whilst the veteran utility man is a solid backup option in defence he does not offer the same dynamism as Robbo going forward.

Whether or not Jürgen decides to rest the Scottish defender on Wednesday remains to be seen but to have him as an option will be worrisome for Napoli.
