Liverpool have a lot of talent at their disposal, players with masses of international experience and plenty of honours under their belt. It is only natural for those further down the pecking under to be dissatisfied with their game time and to spark interest as a result. Xherdan Shaqiri is one such player, Darren Bent has tipped him to catch the eye of Arsenal and Spurs.
It has been a tough season for the Swiss international. Shaq has managed just 11 minutes in the Premier League and three minutes in the Champions League. Injury and solid first team form have conspired against the versatile creator and he has found it impossible to get on the pitch as a result.
Speaking to Football Insider, Darren Bent stated: “I think Arsenal would probably take him, Manchester City nope, Chelsea nope, Spurs may potentially take him as well. I think there will be no shortage of takers so he has nothing to fear about that.”
What RTK has to say
Xherdan Shaqiri moving to Arsenal or Spurs would be a sensible decision for the player but not for the Reds.
Whilst the Swiss midfielder is struggling for game time at Anfield, he is still a vital rotation option and he could prove critical to our strength in depth when fixtures pile up.
Having said that, it would be harsh of us to deny the ex-Stoke star a move if he wants first team football but this move must be outside of the Premier League.
Shaqiri is a talented player that would improve nearly any squad, it would be careless of us to strengthen the chances of any potential title rivals.
