Ally McCoist has backed Klopp with his praise of Oxlade-Chamberlain

Liverpool started the season incredibly well, winning every Premier League game until a draw with Manchester United on the 20th of October. Despite their strong form, the Reds midfield looked stagnant and out of ideas at times, this has been remedied by the welcome return of a fan favourite. At the start of the season, Jürgen Klopp told the Liverpool ECHO that Oxlade-Chamberlain would be like a “new signing” when he returned to the first team.

The Ox had missed nearly all of the 2018/19 campaign after suffering a nasty knee injury during the Reds’ Champions League semi final clash with Roma in April 2018.

Since returning to the side, the England midfielder has been in sensational form. The ex-Arsenal man was named the Liverpool Player of the Month for October, he has scored five in his last six for club and country.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Ally McCoist echoed Jürgen Klopp’s bold pre-season prediction, saying “Tremendous. He’s like a new player. Clearly, he looks as though he wants to make up for lost time.”

What RTK has to say

The footballing community are waking up to the bravery that Klopp showed over the summer.

The German gaffer refused to spend big on a new midfielder as he had the utmost faith in the form of The Ox when he returned. Ally McCoist won’t be the first to refer to Oxlade-Chamberlain as a new signing for Liverpool. Since his return he has completely transformed our midfield and we look more deadly than ever in possession with him back in the side.
