“On his way back!” Fans react to Oxlade-Chamberlain England game

The international break is about as dour as football gets. For a brief period we are robbed of watching Liverpool demolish teams for fun. The only redeeming aspect of the break is seeing the Reds continue their fine form for their country. This week saw Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain open the scoring for England at Wembley.

The Three Lions battered Montenegro 7-0 at the national stadium. It was England’s 1000th international fixture. The Ox started his first game for his country since March 2018. The Reds midfielder netted after just 11 minutes. The strike was the first competitive goal a Liverpool player has scored for England since Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana scored against Scotland in November 2016.

Goals have become the norm for the ex-Arsenal man of late. The Ox has five goals in his last six games for club and country. At a time when the Liverpool midfield was looking stagnant and out of ideas, often relying on our front three, it is a relief to see such a potent attacking force reemerging. This Kopite was overjoyed to see him put his injury woes behind him, given his many talents.

These Reds were emphatic in their opinion that The Ox is as good as it gets for the Three Lions; given his defensive work rate and attacking flair, can you argue with them?
