Liverpool’s biggest rival in the Premier League could be Leicester City.

The Foxes currently sit second in the table and appear to be ready for another run at the title under Brendan Rodgers.

The Reds beat current champions Manchester City 3-1 and opened up a nine-point gap between the two teams this weekend. But is it time to start considering Leicester our biggest title rivals?

Jurgen Klopp’s men have got off to an incredible start with 11 wins from 12 games.

An eight-point lead at the top of the table means Liverpool must be considered heavy favourites this season.

Ex-Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been doing an incredible job at the King Power Stadium. Since losing to the Reds, Leicester have picked up wins in all five games they have played, including four in the Premier League.

The 5000-1 underdogs famously claimed the title in 2016 and could well do so again based off their current form.

Many consider Manchester City favourites to defend their title. However, their levels have seriously dropped this season.

The absence of Aymeric Laporte and Vincent Kompany in the City back line has hit the club particularly hard. Pep Guardiola’s defence appears in disarray and was easily carved open by Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Currently fourth in the table and nine points off the top, City need to be close to perfect for the rest of the campaign. Right now, they simply don’t look a team capable of doing that.

Liverpool have a new challenger in Leicester who we must take seriously or risk another monumental Premier League upset.
