Sunday saw a vintage display from the greatest Liverpool side since the 80s. The Reds ran out 3-1 winners against Manchester City in a game that will prove to be decisive in the title race come the end of the season. During the game Gary Neville heaped praise on Roberto Firmino.
Whilst Bobby didn’t get on the scoresheet on Sunday, he was once again crucial to the Liverpool victory. The Brazilian’s pressing was impossible for the Manchester City defence to cope with, they were never allowed to settle on the ball with our number nine around.
The forward’s movement was also pivotal to the Reds’ success. Whilst Firmino doesn’t grab as many goals as those around him – he only has three this campaign – he creates the space within which his teammates can operate.
Whilst commentating for Sky Sports, Gary Neville said “For me, Roberto Firmino is the best centre forward in the league at the minute, if I had to choose any striker to play up front for my team it would be him.”

The fact that so many Manchester United legends are full of praise for the current Liverpool crop is testament to how special Jürgen Klopp’s group is.
Gary Neville is a long standing admirer of Roberto Firmino because the former United right back can see how vital the Brazilian is to the side despite his few goals.
It is only right that Bobby gets the attention that he deserves when he doesn’t get on the scoresheet. Without Firmino, the Reds wouldn’t be able to press the way they do and Sadio Mane and Mo Salah wouldn’t have the space that they so often find themselves in.
