Pep Guardiola declares Liverpool are the "strongest in the world"

The continent’s two best sides face off on Sunday in a fixture that is sure to play a pivotal role in the title race. Liverpool face Manchester City at Anfield with the Reds looking to extend their lead at the top to nine clear points. Ahead of the game the Manchester Evening News have reported that Pep Guardiola has branded Liverpool “the strongest team in the world”.

Pep Guardiola is the current arch nemesis of Liverpool. The Spaniard has assembled a side that are vying for their third consecutive league title. City have hit 100 points on one occasion and last season pipped the Reds to the title by just one point.

Despite the fact that his megabucks Blues side have broken points records, win streak records and spending records, he has declared, “Right now Liverpool is the strongest team in the world.”

The Spanish boss reserved special praise for his counterpart on Sunday, saying of Jürgen Klopp: “In three or four years he built something marvellous to watch.”

What RTK has to say

The two managers obviously have a lot of respect for each other. They did battle in Germany before they graced the Premier League with their talents and they have learned a lot about each other along the way.

It is no surprise that Pep Guardiola believes Liverpool to be the strongest team in the world, the Reds arguably are. The Spaniard is one for mind games and with such a vital fixture on the horizon he was always going to try and pile as much pressure on his opposition as possible. He just sounded sensible whilst doing so.
