It is no secret that Mo Salah hasn’t been playing like his old self of late. The Egyptian King hasn’t been at his lethal best throughout the 2019/20 season. Even though he has still been scoring, he has been missing a lot more chances than we are accustomed to. Man City is the ideal game for Mo Salah to rediscover his lethal form.

Salah has netted five times in ten Premier League games this season. His goals to game ratio for this campaign is lagging well behind the 22 in 37 last season and 32 in 34 the year before.

Whilst the Egyptian is still getting in the right positions, his decision making seems off. He appears to have lost the killer instinct that made him so unplayable in his first season at Anfield.

On many occasions this season we have seen him pick the wrong pass or fluff his lines in front of goal. However, we have also seen him pull off moments of magic, such as his goal against Genk.

Man City is the ideal game for Mo Salah to return to form. The Citizens will likely leave more gaps in defence than other opponents as they look to come out and play against the Reds more than other visitors to Anfield. When Liverpool take on less able opposition, our adversaries tend to park the bus and dig in deep – this leaves little room for Salah to operate.

With the Blues likely to try and play some football of their own, there will be counter attacking opportunities for Mo Salah to exploit.

It is also important to remember that the Egyptian comes up with the goods in big games. Against Napoli last season he scored the goal that took us past the group stage. Against Chelsea he scored one of our goals of the season as he thundered a shot into the top corner.

Mo Salah can rediscover his form against Man City and he can give the Reds a huge title boost in the process.
