Liverpool have a habit for winning from losing situations. Last week the Reds pulled off two victories when they trailed for most of each game. Saturday saw Jürgen Klopp’s side score twice in the last few minutes to beat Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park. After the game Virgil van Dijk made a nonchalant comment in the tunnel and Kopites are loving it.
The Reds may have struggled to win but win they did. It wasn’t the best performance we’ve ever seen from this Liverpool side but they still found a way to take three points back to Anfield. Ironically, the poor display showed title winning form. If you want to win the Premier League you have to be able to win ugly, you have to take home the points even when you’ve played poorly.
After the game, Virgil van Dijk nonchalantly strutted down the tunnel, looked into a Liverpool FC camera and told it “that’s what we do” – he isn’t wrong. Last week alone, the Reds twice trailed Arsenal by two goals but still progressed to the next round of the Carabao Cup. They were behind from the 21st to the 87th minute against Aston Villa but still won.
