According to a report by 90Min, Joe Gomez is unhappy with his lack of game time and is being chased by Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. The England defender is valued at £31.5m by Transfermarkt.

Once upon a time, it looked like Gomez would never be out of the Liverpool side. At the start of the 2018/19 season, the 22 year old defender forged a formidable partnership with Virgil van Dijk. The pair were impassable as the Reds dominated the league table, Gomez looked to be getting better with every game he played alongside the experienced Dutch centre half.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck for the former Charlton man when Liverpool played Burnley in December 2018. Ben Mee put in a robust, debated challenge on the young defender, resulting in a leg break for Joe Gomez. Joel Matip stepped into the side and hasn’t looked back, much like Gomez, Matip improved minute by minute alongside Van Dijk.

The Reds’ Cameroonian defender has been immovable since stepping into the side and was unlucky to not make the Ballon d’Or shortlist – come on, Riyad Mahrez and Hugo Lloris made it. According to 90Min, Gomez is growing frustrated with his time on the bench and North London’s two biggest sides are set to do battle for his signature.

It would take a monumental fee to tempt Liverpool to part with Gomez; his contract is set to run until 2024, he is young, English and full of potential – priceless in the modern game. Arsenal and Spurs may want Joe Gomez but their chances of getting him are slim to none.
