He just can’t stay out of the gossip columns. Kai Havertz, valued at £81m by Transfermarkt, has now been linked with a move to Manchester United. According to the Daily Mirror, the Red Devils are lining up a double swoop for Havertz and Thomas Muller. Previously, Sport Bild have claimed Jürgen Klopp is looking to arrange a deal to bring the youngster to Anfield. Should Liverpool battle United to sign Kai Havertz?
The 20 year old Bayer Leverkusen man netted 17 goals in the Bundesliga last season. He also registered three assists in the competition. Given the fact that Havertz only turned 20 over the summer, the fact that he was hitting these heights aged just 19 is incredibly impressive.
So far this season, the European Golden Boy finalist has netted twice and assisted once. Bayer Leverkusen currently lie 8th in the table, however, due to the fierce competition in the Bundesliga, they are just three points off the top.
United are desperate for creative reinforcements. The Red Devils have been goal shy this season to say the least. Liverpool have scored more than twice as many goals as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. Jürgen Klopp could also do with some flair in his midfield as he has so far had to rely on the brilliance of the front three to keep things ticking.
The German midfielder is just what the Reds need: he has great dribbling ability, an eye for a through ball and goal scoring instinct. Liverpool should sign Havertz whatever the price, he is destined for greatness in the game, let’s just hope he achieves it at Anfield.
