Liverpool will face Manchester United on Sunday looking to achieve a milestone they haven’t managed for 17-years.
Undefeated at Old Trafford
The Reds will be looking to go undefeated at Old Trafford in the Premier League for consecutive games. The last time they managed that was 2002 when Danny Murphy grabbed an 85th-minute winner.
That win actually made it three games without a defeat at Old Trafford in the league – and they haven’t managed two, since.
Every win or draw has subsequently led to a defeat but Liverpool know they have a brilliant chance to correct that this Sunday.
Although, Liverpool need to correct their record against United in general.
Liverpool’s terrible decade
The Reds have won just six times against United this decade in 24 attempts. That’s quite appalling, considering how bad their rivals have been since 2013.
In the league, it’s just four wins since 2010 in 19 games. Simply put, United are a bogey side.
Klopp’s mixed bag
It’s two wins apiece in all competitions since Jurgen Klopp took over, though – with seven draws. Only one of Liverpool’s wins came in the Premier League, however, as they ended Jose Mourinho’s tenure last season.
And so it’s not just a milestone that Liverpool will hope to set against United. They’ll be hoping to put the record straight with a win.
Perhaps they’ll even repeat their feat of last season and cost their rivals another boss.
