Could Liverpool be planning a move for Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard?
The Mirror claims that the 20-year-old play maker is the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs including Liverpool. The Norwegian prospect is currently impressing during his two-year loan spell at La Liga side Real Sociedad.
Since joining the club in the summer he has scored two goals and picked up the league’s Player of the Month award for September.
The Norwegian midfielder was once the most sort after signature in football. He had burst on to the scene at 15 while playing for Stromsgodset in his home country.
Liverpool made no secret of their attempts to convince Odegaard to come to Anfield. He was even invited train with the club at Melwood.
Odegaard eventually opted for Spanish giants Real Madrid, signing for the club for £3m in 2015. However, since he arrived in Spain, the Norwegian midfielder has failed to live up to the hype.
The Spanish club have shipped him out on multiple loans where he hasn’t exactly set the world alight, until now.
Odergaard is earning plaudits for his performances for Real Sociedad and wants to complete his two-year loan before returning to the Bernabeu to fight for his place.
According to reports, Real Madrid don’t share this plan and will look to cash in by selling the midfielder.
If he does become available you would imagine there would be a long line for a young, talented and improving player such as Odergaard.
Liverpool are still in the market for another midfielder and could well be at the front of the queue when bidding begins on the Norwegian prospect.
