Roy Hodgson took the helm during the dark days for Liverpool Football Club.
To say Reds fans never really took to the current Crystal Palace manager is an understatement. Despite only lasting 31 games at Anfield most fans would argue that was too long.
Former Liverpool player Glen Johnson has now opened up about Hodgson’s reign at the club and how he brought a level of anxiety into the dressing room.

Speaking to the Anfield Wrap, he said. “Well Roy, no disrespect, had come from smaller clubs and I don’t think he was ready to manage Liverpool.
“We had players like Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres and Javier Mascherano, players like that and we’d be worried about playing a smaller team at Anfield.
Johnson has pretty much confirmed what we already knew. For anyone who remembers Anfield during that time, it was not a nice place to be. The players where full of anxiety and it showed in their performances.
The mood was at fever pitch during Hodgson’s reign and his overly defensive style only added to the mood around the club.
Lucky for us, in came FSG who quickly dispatched of Hodgson, ending his miserable six-month stint on Merseyside.
