Liverpool boast two quality goalkeepers and fans can finally relax knowing we have safe hands behind our defence.

The presence of world-class Alisson Becker in goal has brought a calmness to the Liverpool back line. Now Adrian has added to our goalkeeping options, proving a capable deputy in the absence of the Brazilian shot stopper.

Adrian has been so impressive it begs the question: why didn’t we sign him sooner?

The Reds have struggled to find a capable stopper since the departure of Pepe Riena in 2013.

Simon Mignolet came in but struggled, never really gaining favour with Liverpool fans until he was content to sit on the bench. While Loris Karius was even worse. Not only was he not good enough, he would make frequent and sometimes crucial howlers that cost the club big time.

All this whilst the answer to our problems was at West Ham United, underappreciated and underutilized in his final years at the club.

Although Liverpool eventually brought the Spaniard in for free, I’m sure it wouldn’t have cost us much to convince the Hammers to sell.

Our best signing of the summer is also one of the Premier League’s best signings, too.

You couldn’t have written how well his opening couple of months at the club have gone. A super cup medal, with a MOTM performance to go with it, and eight consecutive league wins.

With Alisson set to return to the side Adrian may not play another minute in the Premier League this season.

But, should we actually end the drought, he will be a massive reason why and will have truly earned his winners’ medal.
