Liverpool supposedly have a key reason for wanting Nike kits going forward, according to a report.
The Liverpool Echo claims that the company’s reach in China is what makes them so valuable as a partner. Their reach into the country is unparalleled, blowing even Adidas out of the water.

And, as the Echo says, China is a market that Liverpool have never really cracked. They may have moved into other Asian countries and other continents, but China remains merely a target.
New Balance are currently putting up a fight to hold onto the contract after they matched Nike’s offer. Liverpool, however, claim that Nike’s offer isn’t strictly monetary, given their reach.

Nike is considered the biggest sportswear brand in the world, after all. The Times recently reported that they would offer the considerable marketing ability of their top sports stars as another incentive for the deal.
New Balance can’t offer anything like that – their offer is strictly financial. There’s little indication that they’ll suddenly boost their penetration in China, for instance.

And so Liverpool have big plans for their potential new Nike deal.
Let’s just hope the kits are nice, too.
