Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum played a pivotal role during the club’s Champions League winning run last season. The 28-year-old now wants the Reds to emulate the success of Real Madrid by retaining the title this year.
Winning has been infectious for the Dutch international, who is eager to bring more trophies back to Anfield.
Despite being on international duty, Wijnaldum’s mind remains fixed on winning at Liverpool. Speaking to De Volkskrant, he said. “I really wanted to win the Champions League once, now I want it more often.
“Look at Real Madrid: three times in a row. I would like something like that. Especially since we have seen what it does with the city, with your career and with the club. That’s addictive”
This type of talk is exactly what every Liverpool fan should want to hear from our players. While last season’s win was amazing it shouldn’t be enough for anyone.
Now we must build a dynasty that sees this Liverpool team reclaim the perch we once sat on. Each and every trophy should be attacked with the full force of this Reds squad.
Most importantly the league title drought must be ended this season.
Let’s just hope we have got a team full of players like Wijnaldum who have found winning addictive.
