The first links of Erling Haaland to Liverpool have appeared. How likely is a move, however?
Calciomercato claimed on Monday that Liverpool are one of four clubs looking at the Norwegian. They will compete with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus for the teenager, apparently.
And now the Daily Star are saying the exact same thing – but let’s be honest, they’re probably rehashing Calciomercato.
Neither are particularly reliable sources and so Reds fans would be best to take each story with a massive grain of salt. That doesn’t mean the transfer is impossible, however.
Haaland is one of the most hyped young players around right now. It’s understandable given that he’s scored 18 goals in 12 games this season. One of those even came against Liverpool, of course.
And the 19-year-old is a player who offers a little more than a conventional striker. He’s huge, yet his movement looks top-class. Haaland adds finishing to it, too. In short, every major side will be looking at him.
We immediately saw an opportunity for Liverpool to have a look at Haaland and, while he didn’t start at Anfield, he impressed late on.
And so links between Liverpool and Haaland were inevitable. He’s a very useful player, is delivering at an exceptional level, and has all the hype in the world right now.
He may well be of interest to the Reds – but fans should wait for better sources before getting excited.
