Mohamed Salah is okay despite his late injury against Leicester City. Liverpool got a reminder of their situation, however.
Hamza Choudhury cynically brought Salah down in the closing minutes, injuring the Egyptian’s ankle. Salah went off with his injury and while Liverpool went on the win the game, there were worries.
Would Salah be okay? Liverpool have some huge games after the international break – they can’t lose him now.
But the Liverpool Echo reports that Salah hasn’t suffered any significant damage. There’s no guarantee he’ll be ready to face Manchester United in two weeks but he certainly won’t be out long-term.
And everyone should be very thankful for that. Liverpool are about to tackle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Manchester City – they need Salah.
Divock Origi can step up but isn’t a player you’d want to rely upon through such a period, even if he could step off the bench to score winners.
Liverpool don’t have the luxuries of City. Leroy Sane is injured so Riyad Mahrez replaces him – that’s a different class.
There’s a drop at Anfield if Salah is missing, a significant one. They should have him to face City and the rest but it’s a reminder that things are a little more fragile than they seem.
