Former Liverpool player Steve McMahon has urged the club to sign Leicester midfielder James Maddison. The call comes after he scored against the Reds at Anfield this weekend.
The Leicester play-maker looked great as he usually has since making the switch form Norwich last season.
Now Steve McMahon, who won three league titles and two FA Cups at the club, has become the latest Liverpool legend to endorse Maddison’s potential move to Merseyside.
Speaking on Stadium Astro, McMahon Said. “I don’t see Maddison sitting on the bench [at a big club]. Say he comes to Liverpool, I’m not telling James Maddison to leave, but if I’m Klopp I would be looking to sign a player.
“He’s young, he’s English, he’s got a lot going for him. He changes the tempo of the game, why wouldn’t he get in Liverpool’s midfield?
“There’s a position there for him. If he came and he knuckled down, and he got his work ethic sorted, I see no reason why he wouldn’t fit in.”
The former Red is entirely right about Maddison and Liverpool should move for him now.
At 22, the English midfielder has years of fantastic football ahead of him, so why not at Anfield? Despite achieving great things this team can be improved and Maddison would do just that.
Talent, confidence and hard work are all clearly visible in Maddison’s game, he would fit seamlessly into Jurgen Klopp’s team.
This weekend’s game was just another reminder of just how good the Leicester player is. The Liverpool board and Klopp should listen to McMahon and move for the player right now.
