Liverpool continued their perfect start to the season with a late winner against Leicester City at Anfield. Sadio Mane grabbed his 50th Premier League goal for the club to open the scoring.
The Reds paid for failing to kill the game when James Maddison’s scuffed shot found its way under Adrian to level things up.
However, late drama came at Anfield when Mane went down in the Leicester box after a challenge from Mark Albrighton.
The referee pointed to the spot and upheld the decision after the call was checked by VAR.
James Milner is always reliable from 12 yards and he made no mistake, tucking the ball home for a 95th-minute winner at Anfield.

This win extends Liverpool’s 100% start to the season, as well as their perfect run in the Premier League to 17 games, just one off the all-time record held by Manchester City.
Twitter, as always, was on hand to provide the weird and wonderful views of football fans who where divided on Liverpool’s late winner.
Leicester legend and crisp connoisseur Gary Lineker was unhappy with Mane after his side’s late loss.
Milner wins it for @LFC from the spot after Mane throws himself to the ground after the faintest of touches. I’m biased so I’m saying nothing.

Lineker was backed up by his Match of the Day colleagues Alan Shearer and Danny Murphy who both agreed the penalty should not have stood
No penalty! ❌
That's the verdict from our #MOTD pundits.

While this Leicester fan account had perhaps the funniest take on the late drama at Anfield.
Fancy giving Liverpool a soft pen?

Liverpool fan and Olympian Sam Quek didn’t want to hear any nonsense after the game.
Considering #LFC could well have won the league last season had Keita correctly been awarded a penalty vs Leicester, I’m not even interested in debating the “did Sadio dive?” discussion to be honest.
If it was a pen, it’s a pen, if it wasn’t it feels like karma 🤷🏻♀️

Paul Tomkins responded to Brendan Rodgers comments on the decision with some stats from his time on Merseyside.
If Rodgers is moaning about Mané's pen, his LFC had 12 in the PL in 2013/14. That's one fewer than Liverpool have had in 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/20 combined! 🤷♂️

This Liverpool fan pretty much sums up my feelings on the late winner at Anfield.
Cue all the lucky Liverpool shouts! 👂🏻🎣no luck at all. Clumsy from Albrighton. 100% Pen

Lastly this fan thinks Milner has earned himself a pint after his winner.
