Lyon forward Memphis Depay has looked sensational during his time in France. The Dutch international had previously failed in the Premier League with Manchester United.
Since joining Lyon he has begun to live up to his potential, with consistent quality performances for both club and country.
Depay could emulate the career of Mo Salah by joining the Reds and using a second shot in the Premier League to prove he is one of the best players in Europe.
During his three-year stint in France, Depay has scored 44 goals in 120 games for the Ligue 1 club.
The 50-capped Netherlands international has looked particularly good in the early part of this season with seven goals to his name already.
The forward signed for Manchester United from PSV in 2015 at just 21. However, the hot prospect failed to deliver at Old Trafford and was shipped out just two seasons later.
A player hyped, bought, chastised then sold, Depay has an eerily similar story to that of Salah. He should now follow in his footsteps by joining Liverpool.
The versatile 25-year-old would fit perfectly into Jurgen Klopp’s team. He is capable of playing anywhere across the front three but, more importantly, he can sit in behind to make Europe’s best attacking line even stronger.
Liverpool should move quickly to secure his services. It is just a matter of time before other clubs realise Depay is the real deal.
