Liverpool’s Mo Salah was back to his blistering best at Anfield on Wednesday evening. The Reds hosted RB Salzburg in what turned out to be an epic seven-goal thriller.
After strolling into three-goal lead, Liverpool looked to be on the way to a routine victory over the Austrian champions. However, the night quickly turned as Salzburg rallied back to 3-3 with just over half an hour to play.
Salah scored his second goal of the game to make it 4-3 and save Liverpool’s blushes.
The Egyptian King earned his name last night with a vital performance as Liverpool recorded a much-needed Champions League win.
The hosts were seemingly coasting when Salah got in on the goals to make it 3-0. A Roberto Firmino header was pushed back into the box and the Reds forward buried the rebound to get on the score sheet.
Once the game was level it was Salah who proved key for Liverpool once again. Another Firmino header put Salah through on goal and he finished expertly past the RB Salzburg goalkeeper.
Salah two vital goals boosted his club tally to 17 in the Champions League. He sits only behind Steven Gerrard (21) for the club’s all time record.
The people of Twitter where quick to react to Salah’s match-winning exploits.
Liverpool’s official account ran a fan poll that named Salah man of the match. Gini Wijnaldum was in the replies paying homage to the Egyptian King.

One fan praised Salah’s performance which “saved our blushes” after we threw away a three goal lead.
MOTM: Mohamed Salah. Constant threat and saved our blushes from losing a 3-0 lead, to score his 2nd goal to wrap up our first 3 points in the CL.

Some fans where just happy Salah secured us an important three points last night.
@LFC was brilliant in first half but it’s horrible in early second half leveled by Salzburg but @MoSalah won us the game assisted by Firmino getting precious three points. There’re many issues need to be resolved.

The most important stat of the night though is that Salah now has 17 Champions League goals. The Egyptian is just five goals shy of Steven Gerrard’s all time record.
Mohamed Salah (17) is now just 4 goals off Steven Gerrard's total (21) in the Champions League. 5 more goals and he will become Liverpool's top scorer ever in the competition.
