Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has revealed his connection to the city of Liverpool.
The 52-year-old’s father is a scouser and that entire side of his family are Liverpool fans. His side will host Liverpool at Bramall Lane this weekend, which has meant the United boss fielding more request for tickets than ever before.
Speaking to the Sheffield Star, he said. “My family history is that my dads from Liverpool and all of them are Liverpool fans. So yes, I’ve been getting lots of requests for tickets.
“We used to go over at Christmas and the odd school holiday. That’s when I used to go to Anfield with my uncles.”
Wilder enjoyed his trip back to Merseyside last weekend as his side beat Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park. The Sheffield United boss used the time to reconnect with his family and manage ticket requests.
Wilder will be hopeful of upsetting his relatives when his side host Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.
The Blades are in fine form so far this season. They sit tenth in the league, level on points with both Chelsea and Manchester United.
Liverpool though have been relentless in the early periods of this Premier League campaign.
Six wins from six and a five-point lead at the top of the division. It will take some performance from Wilder’s men to upset this Liverpool side and half of his family in the process.
