Liverpool should consider resting the likes of Salah and Mane on Wednesday due to the busy schedule in the next few weeks.
There’s no doubt that Liverpool are in a good position this year, especially with the Reds being five points clear at the top. However, these next few weeks may prove to be a test as we take on MK Dons, Sheffield United and FC Red Bull Salzburg.
Personally, I don’t think that Liverpool should try to win all competitions- I think we should just focus on the Champions League and the Premier League. These are the two trophies that matter most to the club- the one that rewards us with more revenue so we can invest and make the team stronger.
This is one of the reasons why I think Klopp should rest the majority of the first team. It would be the perfect opportunity to give the likes of Shaqiri, Gomez, Lallana and Lovren a chance to show why they are regular first-team material. It would also be great experience for Brewster and Jones, who will be able to show Klopp how they handle the pressure.
Another reason why I think Klopp should rest the team is the form of the players- particularly Mane and Salah. We do need to ensure that these two players will be in solid form when it comes to the Premier and Champions League. However, the past two matches proves that maybe Salah and Mane are a little fatigue.
In the game against Chelsea, Klopp made the decision to substitute Mane because he could see the 27 year-old was struggling. Our manager then revealed that the Senegalese striker suffered with a dead leg. We already have Origi out with an ankle injury, so we shouldn’t tempt fate by letting Mane play on Wednesday.
In the game against Napoli and Chelsea, Salah was also seen to have quiet games. It wasn’t just him either, but Mane and Firmino weren’t clicking just as well as they have been. Maybe it might be best to give our front three the week to revitalise and start afresh.
Hopefully we can still get the win if Klopp chooses to rotate the squad, but it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if we didn’t.
What do you think?
