A lot of our praise is directed to the first team players. However, this week we should be acknowledging the talents of our squad’s younger members. The Liverpool youngsters are proving themselves to be true Reds this week.

The first star was Harvey Elliott, who helped the U19’s draw against Napoli. The 16 year-old was one of the few players who continued to put Napoli under pressure; his quick pace and passes were something the opposition couldn’t handle. Although his own chances did not find the net, Elliott did manage to set up Layton Stewart for a late equaliser.

Another Red who is earning his place in the first team is Curtis Jones.

Jones performed excellent on the Friday, earning the Man of the Match after the LFC U23’s drew against Leicester. The 18 year-old scored the opening goal, blasting it into the bottom right corner to put the Reds 0-1 up. The U23s did trail behind Leicester’s 2-1 lead for most of the match until Jones provided an assist for Longstaff to level up the score.

The match ended 2-2, with Jones proving what an asset he could be in the future.

Harry Wilson

Harry Wilson is becoming a Liverpool favourite and should be playing in the first team next year. Klopp has done the right thing by loaning him out to other clubs; now, we can see how the 22 year-old keeps improving with the more experience he gains. Already, he has 3 goals out of the five games- more than any of our midfielders.

Wilson was outstanding for Bournemouth, his quick thinking allowing him to find open space easily. The Welsh international fast pace also provided him with the opportunity to score, putting the cherries 2-0 up.

If the momentum keeps up, these players will no doubt be Liverpool regulars in the future.
