Liverpool have demonstrated to have one of the best attacking forwards in the Premier League. The partnership between Salah, Firmino and Mane has proven to be one of the best our club has ever seen.
However, Klopp has just revealed that our number 11 was wary of the role he would play at Liverpool.
Klopp revealed that Salah was initially hesitant about his role at Liverpool due to the fact that Mane operated the right-side throughout the 2016/17 campaign. At this point, it was Mane’s best season; the winger had scored more goals here than he did at Southampton.
Klopp stated: “I remember when we spoke to Mo the first time, he said: ‘Yes, but Sadio is playing on the right wing and he’s not bad is he?” (Echo)
The German manager was quick to reassure Salah: “I said: ‘I know, but he can play on the other wing as well.’ (Echo).
Turns out that signing the £43m winger was one of the best decisions Klopp had ever made. Not only for Salah and the club, but for Mane too. Switching the Senegalese forward to the left was like placing the last piece in the jigsaw- Mane is right at home on that side of the pitch.
Klopp’s not the only reason the winger’s skills have improved. Salah’s presence has also made him better.
Not only did the 27 year-old score 22 goals last season, but this was also double his 2017/18 campaign. The competitive partnership between the two has seen the forwards both push each other to find open space and become top goal scorers.
They push each other to be the best.
With Firmino backing them up, Klopp is right- they are a force to be reckoned with.
