Liverpool’s Marko Grujic has continued to impress for Hertha Berlin. The Reds loanee has been immense for the German capital side this season and is certainly staking his claim for a place in Jürgen Klopp’s side next season.
The midfield general was unlucky to lose this weekend after his late equalizer was ruled out by an even later winner for Mainz. The game finished 2-1 to Klopp’s former side.
Hertha Berlin have been enamoured with Marko Grujic since his arrival. This is his second season on loan at the German side. Head coach Pal Dardai said Marko Grujic “is by far the best midfielder at Hertha Berlin in 20 years”. The comments were reported by the official Bundesliga site.
Liverpool are in desperate need of a midfielder of the old Steven Gerrard mould. There are very few things stopping Liverpool winning every single game, a midfielder that takes the game by the scruff of the neck is one of them. Marko Grujic is adept at winning the ball back and driving his side forward, he has also demonstrated a keen eye for goal.
The Serbian surely deserves a shot at the first team squad next year. With Jürgen Klopp seemingly content with promoting players from within and relying on the depth already at the club, he could very well turn to the midfielder. Over the summer the Reds didn’t sign a single first team player and Klopp insisted that players such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would be like new signings – perhaps Grujic will be afforded the same praise next summer.
