Probably Liverpool’s greatest threat. The Italian champions suffered a shock as they were dumped out by a plucky Ajax side last time round. Juve responded by signing the talismanic centre back that made Ajax so difficult to get past last year. Matthijs de Ligt was one of Europe’s most coveted properties over the summer. The Italian champions will have a much more solid claim now they have shored up defence.

The Camp Nou side are sure to be reeling from last season’s exit to Liverpool. They went 3-0 up at home before falling victim to the greatest comeback in European history when they journeyed to Anfield. They have added Antoine Griezmann to their attack, the Frenchman offers a new dimension to the Barcelona front line. The Reds will be looking to beat them without so much fuss this year.

Man City

Manchester City are an odd one. They have failed to ever get through the semi finals of the Champions League. Much like the old joke about Liverpool, they think every year could be their year. However, their squad is stretched to the limit with the injury of Aymeric Laporte.

Real Madrid

The Spanish giants have reinstalled Zinedine Zidane as head coach. He has never failed to win the Champions League as Real Madrid manager. Their squad has become a bit exposed without Cristiano Ronaldo but they always pose a threat.
