It was a performance for the ages for Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian followed his stellar display away at Burnley with a masterclass at Anfield. The striker was in scintillating form as he drove Liverpool to a 3-1 victory over a helpless Newcastle United.
Bobby drew plaudits from fans and pundits alike for his vision, passing and movement against the Magpies. He was unplayable. The Newcastle defence didn’t know whether to get tight, leaving space behind them that Firmino would exploit, or stand off him and watch the number 9 just scoop the ball over their head.
The last 3 weeks has seen a raised awareness throughout the game of just how crucial Roberto Firmino is to this Liverpool side, with fans of other teams finally waking up to the preciousness of his undefinable role within Jürgen Klopp’s team. Twitter has reacted to the latest episode of the Firmino show.
Fans picked up on just how unique the Brazilian’s role is. Since his arrival from Hoffenheim, he adapted from an attacking midfield role into a defensive forward that provides bags of assists for his side.
Firmino is such a unique footballer that he should literally have his own category. He isn’t a striker, he isn’t a midfielder and he isn’t a defender. He’s all three rolled into one it’s unreal.

Some supporters are becoming bewildered by Firmino’s insistence on constantly improving. The forward’s form is showing no sign of slowing down.
Me trying to figure out how Bobby Firmino continues to get better and does more and more outrageous tricks and skills pic.twitter.com/qwGTP2v4Kk

Reds believe that he is still underrated outside of Anfield and that his Mo Salah assist is evidence of his unappreciated ability.
There is actually no need for how good Bobby Firmino is. The assist for Mo today is borderline illegal & he was inches away from providing an even more outrageous one for Robbo. He is so criminally underrated & I fucking love it! pic.twitter.com/N31XgEpvLc

One journalist saw the performance as excuse to poke fun at an old Telegraph article that believed Bobby would transpire to be an overpriced flop in the Premier League. If only they knew…
Firmino exceptional yet again, each time he is I have a little chuckle at this..https://t.co/xSZ6PyFPCp

A Kopite summed it up perfectly. The man makes football watchable, it is a degree of theatre that we haven’t seen since when Luis Suarez would nutmeg whomever he liked.
Genuinely can’t stop thinking about that Firmino flick to Salah. Liverpool football becomes a dance with Firmino on the pitch. It’s moving poetry. I’m so in love with this game.
