Liverpool are currently in one of their most electric periods of their modern history. The Reds have gone over two years unbeaten at home, they are champions of Europe and are on a run of 13 consecutive wins in the Premier League.
The mastermind behind the success is, of course, Jürgen Klopp. The big German has instilled a mentality at Anfield that both frightens opposition and endears him to fans.
Klopp highlighted the importance of squad unity to the club’s recent success. Speaking during his pre-match press conference, as broadcast on LFCTV, he said: “we have a sensational atmosphere at Melwood”. This good feeling has been translated on to the Anfield faithful, the German continued, “we know what kind of atmosphere we have at Anfield”. Camaraderie among the players has been pivotal to the ecstasy around the club, he added “the players like each other a lot.”
With rumours constantly swirling around the Reds’ top players, the manager has reassured the fans that such is the mood in the first team, “the boys have no reason to leave.”
He believes that the key to Liverpool’s success lies in just always looking at the next step. Never dwelling on achievements or defeats. When asked about their impressive record at home, stretching way back to a defeat to Crystal Palace in 2017, he told the gathered press “we don’t think about, it’s not one time that we mention it…it’s a number, it’s nothing else”.
Liverpool fans will be encouraged by the gaffer’s sensible approach. As long as the Reds maintain their attitude of just looking toward the next fixture, this impressive home form and elated mood in the dressing room will continue well into the future.
