Liverpool have announced their player of the month award for August and it has served to make the club complicit in the underrating of Roberto Firmino.

The Reds have announced their Standard Chartered player of the month as Mo Salah. The Egyptian had a strong month for the Anfield side but the general consensus is that Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino has once again been overlooked.

The shiny-toothed hit man has been drawing plaudits from all over in the last few weeks as the wider football community wakes up to his vital role within the Liverpool side. He has not always enjoyed the limelight at Anfield as his role sees his turn him provider more often than firing home.

In Liverpool’s last game of the month, a 3-0 sweeping aside of Sean Dyche’s Burnley, Bobby Firmino was man of the match. He got on the score sheet and was pivotal as always with his link up play. Twitter has reacted to him being snubbed for this month’s individual award. He is also nominated for the Premier League player of the month gong.

The overriding sentiment is that Firmino was robbed by the decision.
