After reaching the milestone of 50 Premier League goals you’d like to think Roberto Firmino would finally earn the plaudits he deserves.
The 27-year-old Brazilian striker is adored by Liverpool fans who chant “Bobby Firmino” every time he sets foot on the Anfield turf.
Loved by his fans but overlooked by everyone else, Firmino is truly underrated.
Since joining Liverpool from Hoffenheim in 2015 he has been central to the rise of the team we see today; the key piece of Klopp’s jigsaw. This team simply does not work without him.
Unrelenting defensive work from the front sets him aside from any other striker in the world.
A truly unselfish player he’s not afraid to do the dirty work but also has immense skill that allows him to provide more than a traditional striker.
Firmino has an impeccable record against Arsenal. He played a key role in Liverpool’s dominant 3-1 win over the Gunners earlier this season. Despite being a constant thorn in their side Arsenal fans still continue to discredit Firmino.
This type of sentiment is common among an embarrassingly large amount of football fans. The failure to recognise Firmino as one of the best stretches beyond our rivals and into world football.
The Liverpool forward won’t mind too much. His hard work is finally paying off. Firmino added Champions League, Copa America and UEFA Super Cup winners medals to his collection this summer.
