It was an injury that we all feared but we never contemplated. On the opening day of the season, Alisson Becker pulled up lame against Norwich with a calf injury that has seen him out of action ever since.
Free transfer Adrian has been deputising for the Brazilian international ever since and has been making good progress between the sticks for the Reds. Liverpool’s goalkeeping coach John Achterberg has provided an Alisson injury update for Reds fans.
The goalkeeping coach has been a first team member since 2011. He enjoyed a long stint with Liverpool’s Merseyside neighbours, Tranmere Rovers – where he is now a cult hero.
Speaking with the official Liverpool site, LiverpoolFC.com, in an article published on the 11th of September 2019, the Dutchman said: “Ali has been working…in the gym a lot to improve the strength and try to keep the fitness levels up”.
With Alisson still spending most of his time in the gym, Reds fans won’t be overly excited.

The coach continued, “He has made steady progress, but it is difficult to say how long it will take or how it will progress”.
That is a sucker-punch for Liverpool fans. Becker was pivotal to Liverpool’s success last year, Kopites will long remember his last gasp save against Napoli to keep the Reds on course for the knockout stages. He had no right to make that save.
With there is still no prognosis for the ‘keeper’s condition, Liverpool fans will have to throw all their backing behind free transfer Adrian and just pray for no further knocks. Stay tuned for another Alisson injury update.
