Liverpool couldn’t have come closer to signing Nabil Fekir in 2018. The french forward had all but signed for the Reds, even undergoing his media duties before Liverpool pulled the plug on the deal.
The fee was reported to be £52m and Reds fans were excited about signing a man who had notched 23 goals and eight assists in the 17/18 season. Just a year after Liverpool backed out of the deal due to a dodgy knee, the Frenchman signed for Real Betis in a £17.7m deal.
Since his move to Real Betis, the Frenchman has been enjoying life in La Liga. Fekir has already totted two goals and an assist in his first three games for the Lillywhites, with WhoScored giving him an average rating of 7.67.
Most recently, Fekir starred with a man of the match performance as Betis came from behind to beat Leganes 2-1. The forward’s form hasn’t been enough for the La Liga side so far, with them lying 15th with three points from nine.
Although Nabil Fekir’s early form for Betis is impressive, Liverpool definitely aren’t missing him, with the Reds boasting the only 100% record in the Premier League. However, it is important to note that despite Liverpool’s blistering form, the midfield has looked less fluid than usual.

The former Lyon man has an impressive 83% pass completion rate so far this season which could have helped grease the midfield wheels. Yet, with Oxlade-Chamberlain building up his match fitness and threatening a return to his 17/18 form, Liverpool fans have no need to question the wisdom of the Liverpool management.
