Last season may not have ended the way squad wanted, but how are Liverpool FC Women looking going into Saturday?

The positive: The attack

Taking a look at the pre-season results, Liverpool FC women appear threatening on the offense, as their attack begins to rack up goals. The team have already scored 12 goals in three matches, which is over half of what they ended with last season (21). The other positive is Sweetman-Kirk and Babajide, who will be entering the new campaign in great form after the strikers scored seven between them.

The negative: keeping a clean sheet

Last season, Liverpool women finished in 8th place with 22 points after they lost more than half their games. Looking at the results, it is apparent that the team has an issue with the defence. For instance, they conceded 38 goals and kept three clean sheets (out of 20). Within their pre-season friendlies, the Reds have only kept one clean sheet out of the three matches.

Should fans be worried?

Not at all.

Overall, the team are in a better form compared to the end of last season. They could be potential title contenders if they can manage to keep a few clean sheets. Letting goals in can knock a team’s confidence as it reminds the players that a game is far from over, even if you are winning.

If the team manage to keep calm in these situations, they could go far.
