We get it, it hurts. It really hurts. It has been 30 years – or 1,000,000 years in Scouse years – since Liverpool last won a top flight title. Liverpool fans are crying out for a Premier League trophy and, after accumulating 97 points last year and winning Europe’s top prize, this campaign seems like the Reds’ best chance in years.
However, Liverpool winning the Champions League is more important than the Premier League.
Players the world over dream of lifting Ole Big Ears and push through moves to wherever they feel they have the best chance of doing so. Liverpool have felt the wrath of this ambition in the past, losing Owen, Mascherano, Suarez and Coutinho to fickle daydreams.

The Reds winning the Champions League again will help assemble a squad capable of dominating domestically for years to come.

Winning the Champions League affords you the ability to sign the top players. Winning the Premier League may be a great personal desire but, if you’re chasing players like Mbappe you need continental clout, a domestic dynasty will follow.
