Liverpool have moved to sign former West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian. He will replace Simon Mignolet, who has left for Club Brugge.
The official club site confirmed the transfer on Monday afternoon and Adrian will take up the backup goalkeeper role.

There aren’t any reasonable expectations that the Spaniard will take Alisson Becker’s spot this season. Even if Alisson struggled for a few games, you’d still believe he’d keep his place.
And so Adrian’s role doesn’t really come down to goalkeeping. Yes, you want him to step up if needed and he’ll likely get cup games, but hopefully, he’s rarely seen.

Instead, it’s patience and positive attitude that the club needs.
Teammates praised Mignolet for his attitude behind the scenes. James Milner labelled it ‘the best [he’s] even seen’.

Jurgen Klopp, too, apparently valued his attitude around the squad.
Adrian decided to sign for Liverpool for his own reasons and he has mentioned ambition. But it will be his ability to be a positive influence around the team – and on Alisson – that he’s truly judged at Anfield.
