According to Sky Sports News, Liverpool are not looking to bring Memphis Depay to Anfield this summer.

The Dutch attacker has been linked with a move to Merseyside from Lyon for a number of weeks now.

He even posted a cryptic message on his Instagram account appearing to say goodbye to Lyon while boarding a private jet.

What’s more, the jet was bright red and Depay was decked out in red, further fuelling rumours.

But Sky Sports News appears to rubbish such rumours, and claims Depay’s not on Klopp’s radar.

The news will disappoint a number of fans, and it seems like Liverpool would be losing out a smart piece of business.

Depay has resurrected his career since leaving Manchester United in 2017 after a torrid time at Old Trafford.

Since joining Lyon, he’s scored 39 goals and found his best form again, attracting attention from around Europe.

He plays across Lyon’s frontline, and would seemingly fit right into Liverpool’s system as cover for Mané, Salah and Firmino.

He has also been seen posting numerous times on social media with best friend Gini Wijnadum, getting fans excited.

But if Liverpool aren’t interested, it would perhaps suggest that Klopp is eyeing up other potential targets.

This would seem like missing a trick as Depay seems so well suited to life at Liverpool.

Depay seems a better fit than a more traditional striker, like Timo Werner, who’s not so suited to the system.

He is also likely to command a far lesser fee than Werner would, so could represent a better business opportunity.

Although missing out on Depay may be disappointing for some, it obviously means Klopp has other ideas.

If his previous record of making shrewd signings is to continue, Liverpool fans should not fret.
