Sadio Mane was the best goal-scorer in the Premier League this season even if the creative aspect of his game is lacking somewhat.
Liverpool might not have experienced the final day drama in the league on Sunday as they might have hoped for and yet Anfield was louder and more enthusiastic than the title celebrations that Manchester City held.
The Reds are world renown for being one of the best sets of fans in terms of their creative songs and ability to create an atmosphere that can change the course of a game.
Anfield was still buzzing after fulltime, with Mohamed Salah’s daughter getting the loudest cheers of the afternoon as she ran the length of the pitch to roll the ball into the Kop end goal.
Her father was named Premier League top goalscorer once again, with Sadio Mane and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all sharing the prize as they each scored 22 goals this season.
While Salah and Aubameyang are both deserving recipients, Mane is the only one to not have scored a penalty this season to boost his tally.
The Senegal forward’s game has been refined by Jurgen Klopp in the three seasons he has been at Liverpool after joining the Reds for £34million in 2016.
He arrived at the club as an out and out winger that was good at chipping in with the odd goal but never really threatened the league’s most prolific attackers during his time at St. Mary’s.
Under the German, however, Mane has taken his game to a point where he is able to function as a centre-forward with no issues.
At 27 years of age, Mane is about to enter into the prime years of his career and will spend them at Anfield which only goes on to suggest that Liverpool will only get better over the next few years.
The forward can win the first piece of silverware of his Liverpool career in Madrid next month as he and his teammates look to win the Champions League against Tottenham.
