Divock Origi could end up being vital as Liverpool try to win a trophy at the end of the season.
Few could have predicted that would be the case back in August. Few even expected him to be around at the club.

Origi spent last season with Wolfsburg in a disappointing season, with the expectation that he’d move on in the summer.
Instead, he stuck around and has even chipped in with a few goals. The most important of those being his last-gasp winner against Everton, of course.
And now, as the season draws to a close, Origi has found himself in position to fill a key role. No, he won’t be taking the starting XI places of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, or Sadio Mane – but his squad role is vital.

The way Origi has been used this year shows Jurgen Klopp’s faith in his ability. He’s started big games against Everton and FC Porto and was a substitute against Bayern Munich.
He may not be as skilled as Daniel Sturridge or Xherdan Shaqiri, but his direct style and workrate make him more suitable.
Sturridge filled in for Firmino against Huddersfield but it only highlighted the difference. Origi offers more work and more versatility – both key for Klopp.

And with huge games coming thick and fast, Origi is the best bet for giving the front three rest. He can play both from the left and centrally and, most importantly, Liverpool still look the same when he’s on the pitch.
It’s debatable whether he’s has lived up to the promise after his £10m move from Lille in 2014. But if Origi can help deliver a trophy to Liverpool, he’ll go down as a hero no matter what.
