Liverpool are in a position to target youth this summer, given the ability currently in the squad.
It’s difficult to remember a time when this was the case – Liverpool always seem to be missing a key part of their starting XI.

Not now, however. The first team is strong and in the prime of their careers, leaving no real need for proven, ready-made talent.
Jurgen Klopp will want players to boost his squad, replacing the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno. Both are out of contract, while other, like Simon Mignolet, may leave too.

Signing elite players to sit on the bench is incredibly difficult and not very productive. Developing players are far more likely to be happy with rotation, though.
And that’s likely why the vast majority of linked players are very young.
There are links to, for example, Ryan Sessengon (18), Houssem Aouar (20), Joao Felix (19), and Luka Jovic (21).

All are very young, inexperienced, and incredibly exciting prospects. Even more exciting is the idea of Klopp nurturing the talent the same way he’s worked his Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Being able to target exclusively youth players is a wonderful position for Liverpool, made even better by the ability of Klopp. It could make for a very promising summer.
