Ryan Sessegnon would be an ideal project for Liverpool if the Reds joined the chase for him.
The Mirror claim that Fulham are ‘resigned’ to losing Sessegnon after one year in the Premier League. The youngster has been very highly rated but struggled this season.
You can hardly blame him, however – Fulham have been a mess this year. Any young player would see their form take a hit at a relegated side that has had three managers in one season.
And if Fulham do sell, the Mirror believe the price would be lower than the £50m wanted a year ago. That’s in part due to the relegation but also thanks to Sessegnon only having one year left on his contract.
Liverpool could find that Sessegnon is the ideal project for them, in that case.
Bleacher Report say that Tottenham Hotspur are the club that ‘would tempt him most’ right now. It could be argued that Liverpool are a better fit, however.
The Reds will almost certainly need a new left-back this summer as Alberto Moreno’s contract expires. No one would advocate spending big on a first-choice player, though, given Andy Robertson’s performances.
And so Sessegnon could fit there nicely, able to play a squad role under little pressure. He’s more than just a left-back, of course, as he’s also a comfortable winger – another place where Liverpool could use some cover.
He’s fast, learning, and able to play multiple positions in the side. Given his undoubted potential, there is little doubt that Liverpool could get an awful lot of use from Sessegnon.
He could end up being a bargain if his price truly is well below £50m.
