Jamie Carragher doesn’t believe anyone could be a better fit for Liverpool than Jurgen Klopp. That’s even if the German isn’t the best coach around.

Carragher spoke for Sky Sports, where he addressed Franz Beckenbauer’s comments that Klopp would be an ideal fit for Bayern Munich.

“It comes back to that energy and passion in his team, and with him on the sidelines,” said Carragher.

“That mirrors Liverpool people and Liverpool supporters at Anfield.

“I’m not saying Jurgen Klopp is the best manager in the world, by a long stretch, but what I would say is I don’t think any manager is a better fit for Liverpool than Jurgen Klopp is.”

It’s safe to say that Reds fans would agree. Klopp has Liverpool playing an exciting style in an effective way. Would someone like Pep Guardiola generate the same passion? It’s hard to say but not too many Reds fans would take that swap.

Carragher feels Bayern can forget about Klopp though. Liverpool’s former #23 doesn’t believe the current boss would ever be interested in coaching a team like Bayern or Real Madrid for one good reason.

Carragher on Bayern talk

“He’s always been at clubs where the feeling is you are fighting against those clubs,” said Carragher.

“Maybe that’s what brings out the best in Jurgen Klopp.”

Liverpool will be hoping he’s right as Klopp’s success will inevitably bring about interest from elsewhere. But if Klopp shares Carragher’s view, he might feel he’s already at the ideal club.

It is a strange one, of course. For one thing, Liverpool is a club that feels it firmly belongs at the elite table. Very few teams can match their history and at the end of the day, Klopp is there to bring the glory days back.

If he does achieve that, Liverpool will be hoping he still feels at home for a long time to come.
