It was another famous night in the Champions League for Liverpool as Jürgen Klopp’s side put on a brilliant, professional performance to dispatch a lacklustre Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
A Sadio Mané brace and a Virgil van Dijk header saw Liverpool run out 1-3 winners after Joël Matip’s own goal made things a little nervous in the first half.
It was a dominant performance from the Reds who never allowed Bayern to get started, with the German champions managing just a single shot on target – one of only two efforts on target across the two legs.
There were many fine performances, but here’s how the players got on as Liverpool progressed to the quarterfinals.
Alisson Becker – 6
Didn’t have to do much apart from pick the ball out his own net once. Will be surprised how quiet he was.
Andrew Robertson – 5
Caught out for the Bayern goal and looked a bit off his game all night but was steady enough. Picked up a needless booking in the 91st minute so misses the next game. Not his finest outing.

Joël Matip – 6
Unlucky with the own goal but otherwise looked fairly assured and was strong against Lewandowski.
Virgil van Dijk – 8
Running out of superlatives for this man. Dominant at the back, commanding his defence and scored a thumping header at a crucial point in the game.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7
Always an outlet down the right, had a couple of shaky moments against Ribery but was largely solid.
Jordan Henderson – N/A
Subbed off early on with an injury.
Georginio Wijnaldum – 6
Quietly efficient disrupting Bayern play and full of running. That’s about it.
James Milner – 7
Answered questions about his inclusion from the start with a typical workmanlike performance. Provided a calm, experienced head in the middle for his team and got an assist with the corner for van Dijk’s header.

Mohamed Salah – 7
Made lots of intelligent runs and provided a world class assist for Mané’s second. Should’ve had another assist for Sadio though when he was clean through on goal.
Roberto Firmino – 6
Activated the press well, covered an awful lot of ground. But quiet otherwise.
Sadio Mané – 9
He’s in the form of his life at the moment and his first goal was a Champions League classic. Tormented Bayern’s defence all night and got himself another two goals. Brilliant.

Substitutes
Fabinho – 7
Loves a tackle this lad and does it superbly well. Did a brilliant job in the middle after replacing the injured Henderson.
Divock Origi – N/A
Stretched his legs for five minutes.
Adam Lallana – N/A
Did he attempt a Cruyff turn?
