Liverpool’s Mo Salah has chosen his favourite goal after reaching 50 in the Premier League.
Mo Salah bagged his 50th goal in the Premier League last month thanks to a brace against Crystal Palace.
He became the joint-fourth fastest to do so, too, level with Fernando Torres on 72 games.
In celebration of the feat, PremierLeague.com asked Salah to pick a favourite goal. That’s no easy task for a player who has managed quite a few spectacular strikes in his career.
But the Egyptian was able to narrow his collection down to just one: at home to Everton last season.
Salah on his favourite Premier League goal
“It was a different goal for me, the Everton one,” said Salah. “It was like I used my strength, skills and finishing. I prefer it.”
It’s undoubtedly a brilliant goal and an understandable favourite for Salah. He shrugs off one defender, dances past another, and curls it perfectly into the far corner.
It did, however, end up being a little controversial. Fans voted to award the goal FIFA’s Puskas award for 2018 – despite the strike not necessarily deserving it.
Still, it was a more than worthy contender and a very memorable strike from an elite player.
Salah will hope for an equally memorable moment when Liverpool face Everton once more on Sunday.
He may very well be aiming for a record in the game, too. Salah’s 50 Premier League goals feature two with Chelsea; he’s currently on 49 with Liverpool.
One more in either Wednesday’s game with Watford or the derby on Sunday would see him break the record for the fastest to 50 with one club.
Salah has achieved 49 in 63 games – the record is held by Alan Shearer in 66 games.
You really wouldn’t bet against him doing it and what more fitting way than another memorable strike against Everton?
