Isco has told Real Madrid that if Santiago Solari is kept on as Real Madrid boss next season he wants to leave the club and Manchester City have been touted as a potential destination but Liverpool should throw their hat into the ring.
Since the Argentine took over at Madrid, Isco has suffered. The talented midfielder has completed 90 minutes just once since the start of December and is largely restricted to the bench.
With Isco falling out of favour under Solari, the Spaniard has reportedly asked to leave the club if the Real Madrid boss is retained at the end of the season, with AS reporting that he is at his wit’s end with the number of minutes he is receiving.
Manchester City have emerged as the obvious favourites to sign him with David Silva’s best years behind him but the Citizens have baulked at the £100million starting price for Isco that Real Madrid have set.
The Premier League champions are prepared to pay £80million for the out of favour baller.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Isco in the past and with the Reds on the prowl for a world class no.10, Isco would be the perfect Philippe Coutinho replacement despite some fans wanting the Brazilian himself to come back.
I’m unsure if the Reds would be prepared to spend £100million on one player but as big money moves for Alisson and Virgil van Dijk have shown, FSG are prepared to sanction deals for players that will almost certainly guarantee success.
Since van Dijk and Alisson arrived, Liverpool reached the Champions League final and were unlucky to slip to a 3-1 defeat but now sit at the top of the Premier League stronger than ever.
Signing a player of Isco’s pedigree wouldn’t just ensure beautiful football would be on show at Anfield for years to come, it would send a message to other established players across Europe that Liverpool mean business.
